A summer camp for 200 children was held at Catholic Action of Bethlehem from 13 June to 8 July, as part of the project AVSI MAE 9226/AVSI/TOC, managed and executed by ATS pro Terra Sancta.
The children of Bethlehem have at their disposal only a very few recreational and social centers in which they can meet each other and have a good time. Due to the closure of many restaurants and other social meeting places during the second intifada, there are only very limited opportunities for young people to meet one another outside of school.
The camp, whose program included both recreational and spiritual activities, gave the children the opportunity to have a good time while relieving some of the tensions and stresses associated with their living conditions.
The camp, encompassing both educational and recreational activities, was very successful and concluded on 8 July with a large and joyful afternoon festival.
