Knaye and Yacoubieh are two villages in northern Syria, not far from the Turkish border. In 2012, Islamist forces of al-Nusra occupied the area, causing terrible devastation. The continuation of the war in Syria has led to a situation of economic and humanitarian emergency.

At the Knaye convent, Pro Terra Sancta has established a Social and Emergency Center to assist the poorest population of the two villages of Knaye and Yacoubieh. The Center distributes essential goods such as food, clothing, hygiene products, vouchers for purchasing food and diesel for electricity, as well as medicines and baby products.

Additionally, a post-earthquake assistance project has been activated, covering the costs for repairing the churches in Knaye and Yacoubieh, as well as many houses in the area, following the project implemented for Aleppo. Thanks to the Association, 118 houses have been renovated and repaired, and more than 250 families receive assistance to cover their ongoing expenses.

To support the education of the youth in Knaye and Yacoubieh, Pro Terra Sancta provides funds to cover school fees and the necessary maintenance costs of school buildings and the local teaching staff. The Association supports the two schools operating within the convents of the two villages, which represent the only educational opportunity for the children in the area.
