The second session of the Course for training Pilgrimage Guides, organized by the Pilgrimage Office of the Custody of the Holy Land, is taking place from 7 to 21 November. Following the completion of a series of classes held in Rome at the Delegation of the Custody of the Holy Land, the group of guides is now undergoing an intensive on-site program that involves visits to the Holy Places as well as to the cities and historical sites of greatest interest from a cultural and archaeological point of view. As part of this program, on Sunday 13 November the group, accompanied by Carla Benelli, a collaborator with ATS pro Terra Sancta, visited Sabastiya, a Palestinian village and an archaeological site of considerable importance within the overall historical and cultural landscape of the region. The participants had the opportunity to admire the beauty of the place, the splendor of the remains of the ancient city now the site of preservation works, and the new guest house that is available for those who wish to make overnight visits to the area. The group showed considerable interest in learning about the works being carried out as part of the project “Sebastia, a site in the Holy Land from past to present”, which is coordinated by ATS pro Terra Sancta in collaboration with the Municipality of Sabastiya and the Mosaic Centre of Jericho.
