A journey of knowledge that embraces local history and traditions: a unique experience to discover the sacred and historical places and the rich cultural, artistic and archaeological heritage of this fascinating land.

During the trip , in addition to being always accompanied by an English-speaking guide, the group will also receive the support of the Pro Terra Sancta staff who will accompany them in some moments of the trip.

The program of the trip

  • Arrival, Amman - 20/09
  • Arrival at the airport at Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA), and then transfer to Amman and check-in at the hotel for the night.
  • Amman and Salt - 21/09
  • Guided tour of the city of Amman, through the most famous places such as the Citadel, the Roman Theater and the bustling markets of downtown Amman.
  • Lunch at Tawaheen Al-Hawa Jordanian cuisine restaurant.
  • Visit to Salt, a city listed as a World Heritage Site for its tolerance and hospitality
    Urban. We discover the historic houses and the city center with its traditions.
  • Return to Amman.
  • Visit to the "Habibi Rafedin" project of Iraqi women, Italian dinner in the Mar Yohanna restaurant with Fr. Mario Cornioli, founder.
  • Overnight in Amman.
  • Amman – Jerash – Ajloun – Anjara - 22/09
  • We start the day early in the morning from Amman in the direction of Jerash. On the highway stop for 15 minutes at the Jerash stream at the side of the road. (Jacob's struggle Gen 32:23-33).
  • Arrive in Jerash, explore the ancient Roman ruins and soak up the historical atmosphere.
  • Lunch at Artemis restaurant in Jerash.
  • Departure from Jerash and visit of Tel Mar Elias, identified as the place of origin of the prophet Elijah,
    It preserves the remains of two Byzantine churches.
  • Visit Ajloun Castle, an extraordinary medieval fortress nestled in the Ajloun Forest Reserve.
  • Visit to the sanctuary church of Our Lady of the Mountain in Anjara كنيسة سيدة الجبل, meeting with the nuns of the "Incarnate Word" orphanage.
  • Return to Amman. Accommodation in Amman for overnight.
  • Bethany – Nebo – Madaba – Petra - 23/09
  • Departure from Amman in the morning with check-out.
  • Departure to the baptism site of Jesus Christ, located on the east bank of the Jordan River.
  • You explore the historical and religious significance of Bethany, admiring the biblical landscapes and visiting the baptism site.
  • Continue to Mount Nebo, where Moses is said to have seen the Promised Land. Enjoy the
    panoramic views of the Jordan Valley and visit the Moses Memorial Church. Meeting
    with the Franciscan Fathers.
  • Lunch in the restaurant "Hekayet Nebo".
  • Continue to Madaba, known for its Byzantine and Umayyad mosaics. Discover the famous map of Madaba at St. George's Church.
  • House of Encounter; Arsenal; بيت اللقاء لذوي الاحتياجات الخاصة sister center of SERMIG.
  • Arrive in Petra for dinner.
  • Overnight in Petra.
  • Visit to Petra – 4*4 jeep ride for 2 hours in Wadi Rum - 24/09
  • The day starts early with exploring the ancient city of Petra, known as the "City of Roses." You will be able to admire the historic Treasury (Al-Khazneh), the Siq, and other impressive wonders
    Architectural.
  • Continue the exploration of the various tombs, temples and monuments scattered around Petra, such as the Monastery (Ad Deir) and the Royal Tombs. Byzantine Church of Petra.
  • Lunch
  • Continue to Wadi Rum and depart for a 2-hour jeep ride in a 4×4 vehicle, to admire the beautiful desert landscapes, majestic rock formations in the breathtaking beauty of the desert.
  • Overnight in the desert (Wadi Rum) in a quaint hotel.
  • Aqaba – Kerak – Dead Sea - 25/09
  • In the morning we leave Wadi Rum and head to Aqaba, a coastal city on the Red Sea.
  • Boat ride with lunch and subsequent departure from Aqaba after lunch and return to the Dead Sea.
  • Visit Kerak, (Moabite capital Kir Heres): a Crusader-era castle known for its historical importance. You will explore the castle and learn about its fascinating history.
  • Afterwards, depart for dinner and overnight at your hotel at the Dead Sea.
  • Machaerus – um Ar-rasass – Dead Sea - 26/09
  • We head to Um Al Rasas, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its Byzantine mosaics. Visit Um Al Rasas where you can admire the well-preserved ancient ruins.
  • Depart for Mukawir, Machaerus, a fortified palace overlooking the Dead Sea. Martyrdom of John the Baptist.
  • Lunch in Mukawir.
  • Depart from Mukawir to reach the Dead Sea and relax on the salt beach.
  • Qaia airport - 27/09
  • Check out of your Dead Sea accommodation and return to the airport.
  • Arrival at QAIA, check-in and security procedures. Boarding the flight and departure to Milan.
